| I recently ran the Windows 7 upgrade adviser and was told that everything was fine on my machine for the new OS except 1 or 2 minor things, one of which is that it tells me that Typeitin is not compatible with Windows 7, hopefully this will be fixed soon since in a couple of months I will be upgrading to Windows 7 and would hate to lose it. |

Although TypeItIn has not been officially declared compatible with Windows 7, I have been testing it and have not found any issues.
If you decide to try Windows 7 (beta) let me know if you find any issues with TypeItIn.
Thanks,
Paul. |

I did try Typeitin on Windows 7, and it went in wihtout a complaint, but still with the game Ryzom, I had increased problems using Typeitin. on XP, It would feed fantasticaly the Username password.. in game though is same problem would not feed into the chat box.
Under windows 7 it would not paste into the game.
It would however list up menu option let me eyeball copy and write what they are in proper location.
Very low second rate on that..
My Problem is I enjoy the Game Ryzom, and is basically NOT comptiable with Typeitin |

Some applications, especially games, create their own interface where text areas are not created by Windows but drawn by the application. It is very difficult for TypeItIn to track such applications.
One thing you can try is to change the Advanced Window Tracking option in Setup - Settings. Right click on the keyboard icon in the task bar tray and select Setup from the pop up menu. In the Settings Tab change the Advanced Window Tracking option and click the Close Setup button.
Another thing that you can do is assign a shortcut phrase or key to a button.
Right click on the button and select Edit Button from the pop up menu. In the Edit Button window add a shortcut phrase or shortcut key.
For example, you could use the shortcut phrase tst for a button that types test or a Control-T shortcut key.
See http://www.wavget.com/help/typeitin/hs42.htm for more information.
Hope this helps,
Paul. |

Hello Wavget,
I, too, am having a problem in Windows 7;
namely, that Type It In 2.7 does not work at all in Internet Explorer 8,
but it does work properly on your site.
Do you have any further insights on how to make it function in Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 Home Premium?
I've been using it ever since DOS and, needless to say, I'm lost without it.

rmpete, can you give me an example of a site that does not work for you?
I'm using TypeItIn 2.9.2 Beta 3 (the latest beta) on Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) without any issues.

Hello Wavget,
thanks for your prompt response.
I, too, am now using TypeItIn 2.9.2 Beta 3 (the latest beta) on Internet Explorer 8 and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), but I still have the same issues.
When I used TypeItIn 2.0 in Windows XP I had no problems.
When I used TypeItIn 2.0 in Windows 7, I found I could not use it.
Now, I've upgraded to 2.9.2 Beta 3 and I still can't use it in IE8, but I can use it in Word97, Excel97, QuickNotes Plus and AZZ Cardfile.
And, I can't use it in Notepad and Wordpad-except when I use the Notepad button in TypeItIn.
I've only been using Windows 7 for a week, so I'm wondring if there is a setting I've missed.
Any ideas?
Also, how can I bring over to Windows 7 all the buttons I've created in Windows XP?
Thanks |

I need this information too; I copied the 3 files over, both to the install directory and to the user data area, and they are not recognized.
PLEASE tell us how ,to do this in Windows7 and what version we should be running!

It is very important to exit TypeItIn completely before you copy the files.
Right click on the keyboard icon in the task bar tray and select Exit from the pop up menu.
Next copy the datafile.enc and typeitin.ini files to the data directory.
In Version 2.9 the data files are stored in the application data folder:
C:\users\username\appdata\local\typeitin (vista & 7)
Or C:\documents And Settings\username\local Settings\application Data\typeitin (xp)
Username is your windows login name.
You can access this directory easily from typeitin - setup. (before you exit it of course) Right click on the keyboard icon in the task bar tray and select setup from the pop up menu. In the settings tab, backup section, click on the manual link to open windows explorer in that folder.
Version 2.8 data files are stored in the c:\program files\typeitin folder.

I've recently purchased a netbook computer with Windows 7 Home Premium and I've tried every suggestion I've found on here for importing my old buttons from my Windows Vista laptop and nothing works. I've tried different versions, I've made sure to exit Typeitin before copying the specified files to the specified directories and nothing seems to work.
Has anyone managed to pull this off?? I've got a lot of groups and a lot of buttons on my other machine that I really hate the idea of losing but for the life of me can't figure out how to get the import to work.
Thanks,
Dan |
